By nature, wine is a time capsule—the embodiment of a year’s triumphs and trials, bottled and released for the world to uncork or cellar. An evolution follows, whether in glass or in bottle, all harkening back to the same theme: wine both defines, and is defined by, moments.
With this in mind, we’ve assembled six domaines whose remarkable wines deliver an enduring quality, vintage after vintage, best described as timeless. From Bandol to Barolo, Châteauneuf-du-Pape to Chianti, these French and Italian cuvées are the perfect way to celebrate, whether you’re planning gatherings to close out the year or anticipating occasions to come in the new one (and beyond). Here’s to creating new memories with these classic expressions of terroir and energy. May you enjoy every moment.

Sampling wine out of the barrel.

When buying red Burgundy, I think we should remember:

1. Big wines do not age better than light wine.
2. A so-called great vintage at the outset does not guarantee a great vintage for the duration.
3. A so-called off vintage at the outset does not mean the wines do not have a brilliant future ahead of them.
4. Red Burgundy should not taste like Guigal Côte-Rôtie, even if most wine writers wish it would.
5. Don’t follow leaders; watch yer parking meters.
