2001 Châteauneuf-du-Pape “La Crau”

Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe

Good, solid Beaumes-de-Venise is a great thing. A unique and rustic Vacqueyras? Fantastic. But a Vieux Télégraphe from the famed La Crau plateau...that’s about as good as it gets. It’s in a league of its own: noble, soulful, absolutely elegant. ’Nuff said.

Terroirs

Great winemakers, great terroirs, there is never any hurry. And I no longer buy into this idea of “peak” maturity. Great winemakers, great terroirs, their wines offer different pleasures at different ages.
